Larry Birkhead to sponsor “Dannielynn’s House”
in conjunction with Habitat for Humanity of Metro Louisville

(Louisville, KY) – Habitat for Humanity of Metro Louisville (HFHML) is proud to announce that native Louisvillian Larry Birkhead is sponsoring the construction of new Habitat home. The house will be called “Dannielynn’s House: In Memory of Anna Nicole and Daniel Wayne Smith,” named in honor of both Birkhead’s daughter, her mother, the late Anna Nicole Smith and brother Daniel Wayne Smith. Women for Habitat (WFH) will coordinate the volunteer effort.

“This entire project is about the strength it takes to be a single parent—the difficulties you have to face,” said Birkhead. “I can really relate to that now, raising Dannielynn on my own. Anna Nicole's struggle as a single parent with her son Daniel was another reason that inspired my sponsorhip of "Dannielynn's House."

A single mother and her three daughters, two of whom have Spinal Bifida, will purchase Dannielynn’s House upon its completion.

Rob Locke, Executive Director of HFHML, said, “We are so impressed with Mr. Birkhead for teaching his daughter the value of community service and helping others. She may be too young to appreciate it now, but in the future she will see how this project has impacted a family’s life.”

WFH is an organization that operates in partnership with HFHML to nurture, recruit and train women to build simple, decent, healthy and affordable Habitat homes. WFH is currently looking for volunteers to help with construction of the Dannielynn House, as well as other homes in progress. For donation information and available build dates for volunteers, contact WFH team leader Mary Abbott at maryabbott@bellsouth.net.

Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit ecumenical Christian housing ministry that builds simple and affordable homes in partnership with those in need of decent housing. Families purchase the houses at no profit, through interest-free loans. Families also invest hundreds of hours of their own “sweat-equity” labor into their houses. Their monthly mortgage payments help fund the construction of more houses. The Habitat for Humanity of Metro Louisville affiliate began in 1985. Since then, over 5,000 volunteers have worked alongside families to complete 250 Habitat homes in Louisville, Kentucky, sheltering 277 adults and 519 children.
